Frederick County Sheriff’s Office Encourages Community Members to Use Online Reporting Services in Wake of COVID-19

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office today announced that the agency is urging community members to file online reports or request a police report or other related record using online services. With the spread of COVID-19 in the United States, community updates and activities are rapidly changing for all of us. Utilizing these online services will increase efficiencies within the agency while enhancing services to citizens of Frederick County.

This service provides a fast and efficient way for community members to report a variety of incidents such as destruction of property, fraud, harassment, hit & run, lost property, theft, theft from motor vehicle, and vehicle tampering. Additionally, information reports can be submitted for drug tips, patrol check requests, and traffic complaints. Rather than visit the Sheriff’s Office in person or have a deputy dispatched to you, anyone can now report minor incidents and/or purchase various types of reports online. While this service was implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sheriff’s Office intends to continue its use indefinitely.

“Online community reporting and requesting allows deputies to stay focused on the more critical responses to the community and reduces the risk of exposure to deputies and residents for non- critical reports," said Sheriff Chuck Jenkins. “Telephone reporting was implemented years ago before the coronavirus impacted our community. Due to the increased need for our deputies and Frederick County residents to reduce the spread of the coronavirus, we have recently added additional report types that can now be submitted online,” continued Sheriff Jenkins. “However, I want to emphasize that a deputy will still respond to these types of incidents if requested.”
