The etching was originally located in the Firehouse Financial Center that was in the former Independent Hose Co. No. 1 firehouse at 12 West Church St. in Frederick. William Cochran, a noted artist, developed this magnificent public art that filled the area of the former engine house apparatus bay door. New building owners decided the artwork did not fit into the future renovation plans for the building and donated the etching to the Frederick County Fire & Rescue Museum with the intent of being able to again display the work publically.
The display is located in front of the Emmitsburg Community Center next to the museum at 300A S. Seton Avenue. Parking is available in the rear parking lot. We are hopeful to have the actual members of the Independent Hose Company No. 1 that posed for the etching in attendance.
