Shredding & Electronic Recycling

Community Recycling Event

Starting in 2019 the Town will host a FREE document shredding and electronic recycling event.  Emmitsburg residents only (please bring a photo ID). Please note there is a charge for paint recycling.

ELECTRONIC RECYCLING: FREE. If it plugs into a wall, uses batteries, or looks like it could have done either at one time, e-end can most likely recycle it! Recycle old cell phones, laptops, computers, TVs, printers, fax machines and more! Items NOT accepted: appliances, car batteries, air conditioners, microwaves, dehumidifiers, medical equipment, and any units with sludge or mercury. There is a $15 CASH charge for CRT (tube) computers and $30 CASH charge for CRT (tube) televisions. E-end strictly adheres to Responsible Recycling (R2) standard to reduce electronics waste. DOCUMENT SHREDDING:  FREE. All sensitive documents will be destroyed on-site and in-person. Upon completion of shredding, a Certificate of Destruction will be given. No box limit. PAINT RECYCLING: Old paint sitting in your garage or basement? Bring your quart, 1-gallon or 5-gallon old paint cans to the event and Yuck Old Paint will take care of them. Paint must be in original cans. Both latex (water-based, enamel and acrylic) and oil-based paints accepted. Wood stains NOT accepted. $5 per can for each quart and 1-gallon container. $10 per bucket for each 5-gallon bucket. Cash, check and credit card accepted.
