EMMITSBURG RIDE DAY

The Emmitsburg Multi-User Trail features thirteen miles of professionally designed and constructed natural surface trails.  The trail network, situated on Town owned property near Rainbow Lake, is comprised of three challenging loops which are suitable for mountain biking, hiking and trail running.  An additional trail crosses the heavily wooded College Mountain, connecting the mountain trails with Annandale Road.

Overview
Our International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) style stacked loop system offers varied terrain with rolling hills, slick rocks and rock gardens.  All trails feature optional challenge lines to enhance riding skills. Don't let the mileage fool you! The challenging, steep terrain packs more challenge into half the mileage of trail systems further east.  Thirteen miles of new single track was recently added.  These are professionally built designed and constructed by mountain bikers.

Trails are multi-directional and multi-use, so please be alert, courteous, and follow the rules of the trail. Parking is limited at Rainbow Lake, so it is suggested to carpool when you can.

Additionally, during hunting season, the trails are only open on Sundays. For specifics on Maryland's hunting season, check out Maryland DNR's excellent Hunters' Guide.

Road Riding Options:
Peaceful, picturesque scenery, low traffic counts and well appointed rest stops make the road riding here unique. Start early and ride to the battlefield at Gettysburg or conquer the mountain and complete a challenging Emmitsburg/Frederick City Loop.

After a day riding, make an early evening visit to the Emmitsburg Community Pool, visit the walking trails in Community Park or take a stroll down Main Street. Not home in time for dinner?  Emmitsburg provides a variety of dining options with bike safe parking so you can finish the day at one of our local restaurants or pubs before heading home.  If you want to ride and enjoy small town hospitality, visit Emmitsburg, MD.

Charity Rides Welcome:
Our parks are well suited for fundraising rest stops.  Sheltered pavilions, indoor restrooms and ample parking provide great support sites.
